Prof. He Junxian and Prof. Lam Hon-Ming from State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (CUHK), collaborated with Prof. An Lizhe’s team from Beijing Forestry University had recently published online a collaborative research paper “A reference-grade genome of the xerophyte Ammopiptanthus mongolicus sheds light on its evolutionary history in legumes and drought tolerance mechanisms” in Plant Communications. This study used a variety of advanced genome sequencing technologies to construct a chromosome-level reference genome of Ilex mongolica, conducted a detailed annotation of the genome sequence, analyzed the characteristics of its genome evolution, and explored its drought resistance mechanism.
