Incoming visit of renowned scholar Marc Van Montagu

Marc Van Montagu visited State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology on Nov 11, 2016 for an academic meeting and had an in-depth discussion with our research members. Marc Van Montagu is a Belgian molecular biologist who discovered the Ti plasmid and described the gene transfer mechanism between Agrobacterium and plants. He was full professor and director of the Laboratory of Genetics at the faculty of Sciences at Ghent University (Belgium) and scientific director of the Genetics Department of the Flanders Interuniversity Institute for Biotechnology. He was also the advisor of Areas of Excellence Scheme of Center for Plant and Agricultural Biotechnology.
