The 2024 Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Agricultural Science and Technology Forum took place in Guangzhou from November 14 to 16. Building on the success of the previous forum, this year’s event continued to serve as a major platform for high level exchange in agricultural technology, in the Greater Bay Area, China and beyond. It aimed to further enhance its role as a regional hub, bringing together world-renowned scholars and agricultural technology experts from Hong Kong, Macau, and across the country.
The forum fostered high-level international cooperation and exchange, exploring new trends and pathways in agricultural productivity while enhancing the innovation “ecosystem” of agricultural technology in the Greater Bay Area. Its goal was to promote the seamless integration of technological and industrial innovation, ensuring robust support for food security in the region, advancing rural revitalization, and encouraging coordinated regional development.
The forum attracted nearly 600 leading agricultural experts, scholars, and representatives from agricultural technology enterprises worldwide. The theme of the forum is “Food Security and New Quality Productive Forces in Agriculture under the Perspective of an All Encompassing Approach in Food.” Notably, Professor Chan Ting Fung from our State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology delivered a special presentation titled “Agrigenomics Accelerates Research on Underutilized Legumes,” highlighting the latest advancements in genomics research within the field of agricultural biotechnology.
