Active Engagement of the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology at the National Ecology Day 2025 Launching Ceremony and Symposium

On August 15, 2025, the HKSAR Government hosted the National Ecology Day 2025 Launching Ceremony cum Symposium, celebrating the nation’s commitment to ecological civilisation and sustainable development. The event brought together senior officials, scholars, and experts from Hong Kong and the Mainland to exchange insights on conservation, rural revitalisation, and green innovation.
Representing the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (SKLA), Dr. Lucia PS Liu, Assistant Director of SKLA, attended the ceremony, underscoring the laboratory’s active engagement in national ecological initiatives and its dedication to advancing agrobiotechnological research in support of environmental sustainability.
The ceremony featured keynote speeches from government leaders including Mr Cheuk Wing-hing (Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration), Mr Tse Chin-wan (Secretary for Environment and Ecology), and Dr Starry Lee (Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress). A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Hong Kong and Shenzhen to strengthen joint rescue efforts for large aquatic wild animals.
SKLA’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to cross-regional collaboration and its role in shaping a greener future through science and innovation.
