On January 12, 2026, the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Baidu International Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony at Baidu Technology Park in Beijing, marking a significant step forward in the field of “AI + Modern Agriculture.”

Attendees included Professor Lam Hon-Ming, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Life Sciences and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology of CUHK; Qi Xinpeng, Associate Researcher at the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences; Zhou Qi, Chair of Baidu’s Basic Technology System Product Committee and Deputy General Manager of Baidu AI Technology Ecosystem; and Zeng Xudong, General Manager of Baidu AI Technology Ecosystem for the Greater Bay Area.

The collaboration focuses on building a comprehensive intelligent service platform for soybeans, leveraging Baidu Wenxin’s strengths in AI technology and industrialization, together with the laboratory’s deep expertise in cutting-edge agricultural research. The platform will target key areas such as production guidance, pest and disease control, and ecological value assessment, creating an integrated capability system that supports research, production decision-making, and ecological evaluation—providing modern agriculture with stable, reliable, and scalable intelligent support.
