2025.11.08

CUHK and Yangzhou University have long shared the vision of advancing agricultural innovation. This symposium, themed “Agricultural Innovation and Sustainable Development,” reflects their commitment to pooling expertise and fostering collaboration. By leveraging complementary strengths and promoting interdisciplinary research, both institutions aspire to establish a world-class platform that catalyzes agricultural modernization and contributes to global food security, sustainable farming, and rural revitalization.

On November 8, 2025, the State Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology (SKLA) at CUHK convened the academic exchange, welcoming a distinguished delegation from Yangzhou University. Opening remarks were delivered by CUHK Vice-President Prof. Jiang Liwen, YZU President Prof. Liu Qiaoqian, and SKLA Director Prof. Lam Hon-Ming, followed by a commemorative group photo. The symposium featured scholarly presentations addressing crop quality enhancement, soybean research progress, rice molecular mechanisms, earthworm genomics, and plant stress responses, alongside topics such as Ginkgo biloba bioactive compound biosynthesis and advanced sensing technologies for crop stress physiology. Subsequently, participants engaged in an in-depth exchange and visit to consolidate collaborative ties in agrobiotechnology.

In prospect, the two universities will capitalize on their newly ratified five-year strategic collaboration agreement to pursue transformative breakthroughs in critical technologies, intensify transdisciplinary research endeavors, and fortify the cultivation of emerging research talent. Through joint investigations, sustained academic interchange, and translational initiatives, CUHK and YZU aim to deepen their partnership and contribute to the advancement for agricultural science and innovation.
